An International Celebration

A time-honored tradition at McKinley Elementary School in Westfield. For more than two decades, third graders have researched and written about a specific country, using that information to compose a speech to perform at an International Celebration in May.

Oasis Update

The excitement was palpable as McKinley students enjoyed the unveiling of new playground equipment as part of a multi-year project to build an outdoor oasis. With the new playground in place and some final landscaping, the Oasis is complete.

Westfield Elementary Students Hear Impactful Presentations on the Holocaust

As part of a Historical Fiction unit, 5th graders in Westfield Public Schools read Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, a historical fiction novel that follows a friendship between a Jewish girl and a Christian girl in Copenhagen and their journey to freedom during World War II. And, at schools across the district, there continue to be presentations on the Holocaust that provide important real life context to these classroom experiences.
